Common Microneedling Questions

Microneedling

Microneedling is a procedure that uses hundreds to thousands of “micro” skin punctures to-help stimulate your body’s natural wound healing process; inflammation > proliferation > remodeling. This treatment is quick, safe, minimally invasive, and proven clinically effective for all skin tones.

Microneedling may help reduce:

  • Acne scarring
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Stretch marks
  • Large pores
  • Uneven skin tone

The healing process rejuvenates the skin, helping it to become firmer, smoother and more youthful!

What is the procedure like?

Before treatment, numbing cream will be used to minimize any discomfort.  During the procedure, a pen-like instrument, similar to an electric toothbrush, will be used to make tiny pricks under the skin for approximately 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the size of the area treated.

Are there any side effects?

Mild bleeding can occur during treatment, but tends to resolve very quickly. After the treatment, a slightly red appearance to the skin, similar to a mild sun burn, is common for the first 24 hours post treatment. Beyond that, no downtime is required.

How many treatments will I need?

Some patients require only a single treatment per year. However, for optimal results it is recommended to get three to six treatments spaced one to two months apart. You will see the best results from your treatment after about four to six weeks.
